With so many devices which can take photos and videos it’s hard to believe that there’s still some videocamera on the market. However, a videocamera is still the best choice for the modern movie makers who don’t care about taking photos (maybe because the wife takes care of it!). A videocamera is made to be easily used with only one hand and has options for the videos that a photocamera doesn’t. Most of the cameras are quite cheap.

Kodak PlaySport (Zx5) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera
This is the new generation of the Kodak Playsport pocket video camera. There are minor and non significant improvements. In effect, it costs only slightly more than the old Zx3 model but there are some drawbacks:
- The battery of this camera is non-removable. There is no reason for the Kodak engineers for making this design choice, I really can’t explain it. If the battery dies you have to send the camera to Kodak. Moreover, you cannot keep a spare battery as a replacement it in case the battery runs out.
- The sensor is smaller compared to the Zx3 model. A smaller sensor generates more noise and poorer image quality.
- The HDMI and video cables are not anymore included in the bundle.
I think these negative points are important enough for me to strongly advice not to buy this model and go for the old one, at least until it is available.
